The Back-Up is an ingenious design; it allows people to increase the carrying capacity of their vehicle, without buying a much bigger car. Carrying additional luggage in roof boxes is now a common sight on Britain’s roads.

Thule, the world’s largest manufacturer of car roof systems, has taken the concept of the roof box one stage further, with the Back-Up Box, which sits at the back of the car. This box solution is ideal for those who need additional capacity, in particular when the car roof is already being used for bikes, kayaks, surfboards or other sports equipment.

The additional 420 litres of capacity provide suitable storage for wet, dirty or bulky luggage, such as pushchairs, wetsuits or sailing gear without soiling the interior of the car. The low position of the box makes loading much easier, with handy internal straps to hold your luggage in place.

Secured quickly and easily using four U-bolts to the NEW Thule EasyBase 949, or the platform provided by existing towbar mounted cycle carriers; the Thule BackPac and Euroclassic ranges. Bike carriers with a tilt function; enable the box to be tilted for easier access to the vehicle boot or luggage compartment.
